I would like to highly recommend Julie Austin as a care provider of small animals, livestock and show horses.

I have owned show horses, dogs, cats and sheep for many years. I have hired animal care professionals of all levels of experience. I must state, without reservation, that Julie is the most responsible and professional animal care person I have ever worked with. Julie loves animals and her kindness is adored and appreciated by all my animal family members. Julie is also extremely responsible and reliable. She is always on time; she performs the job above and beyond the scope or work by spending extra time with the dogs and horses. She leaves her work area neater than she found it. Most importantly, she knows how to handle emergencies with good judgment. Julie has experience with equine vets, colic, lambing, sheep vets, pet injuries and small animal emergency care.

I recommend Julie to anyone seeking the finest of animal care. I am lucky to have Julie caring for my animal family.

When my husband, Charles and I want an escape from our demanding careers we escape on what we call, a 3-4 day 'mini vacation.' We enjoy being rather spontaneous with our vacations, which would not be possible without Julie Austin from August Animal Care.

We have two energetic Toy Fox Terriers (Zena and Zoë, the 'girls') and before we leave for vacation we tell them they get to be on their own vacation with Julie. The girls absolutely love Julie and we're thrilled to have the piece of mind that Julie affords us in knowing they are not just checked on, but also stimulated with hours of fetch the ball, walking the Tolt Pipeline, going on car rides with Julie, you name it.

Never is there even a minute wasted on our vacation concerned with their care. Just the opposite! We arrive home and the girls usually give us a bark or two, sniff our whereabouts and then often retreat to their crate as they are usually exhausted from their vacation with Julie. This exhaustion is one of the best things about having Julie care for the girls because we too, enjoy the down time after returning from the mini vacation. We all sleep very well that first night returned home because the girls are well exercised and we are relaxed from our getaway.

Julie is extremely reliable and professional with her follow-up. She makes sure we arrive home, and that the girls are safe. Julie is completely competent and highly capable to administer any special care that may be required. We feel very fortunate to have her support and would not be comfortable leaving our girls with anyone else. Not to mention, Zena and Zoë wouldnÕt have it! I think secretly the girls often talk amongst themselves and wonder when we will leave so they can see Julie again

I am currently sharing gratitude emails with a friend of mine. Today I expressed gratitude for finding Julie Austin to care for my cats when I am traveling.

I have three cats and they are very precious to me. Sometimes I am gone for an extended period of time. In the past, I have relied on friends and family to care for my cats, creating a schedule so that no one had to visit my home more than once or twice a week. I was always concerned that my friends and family would feel overwhelmed. I also worried how the cats would receive all of these people in their life.

These cats also have very different needs. Pumpkin, my orange fur ball, has skin allergies and needs medication on a regular basis. Memo, my Sphinx hairless cat, needs to have his ears cleaned and his face and neck washed as often as we humans need to take showers. Olive is the easy cat, only needing the reassurance of having her food dish hand filled. I could not ask my family and friends to take this extra care. Giving a cat a pill, washing a catÕs face and ears, is not something that everyone can do.

When I found Julie, all of these cares disappeared. It was obvious to me right away that Julie bonded with all three cats. She immediately connected with and understood their different personalities. Not only did all three cats like her, she has easily stepped into the role of their Mom and they let her, welcome her loving attention. In fact, Memo only lets Julie and myself wash his face, no one else. It is the ultimate sign of trust.

As well, sometimes when I travel, phone contact is not possible. Julie keeps in touch with me via email, and I do not spend my time away wondering how the cats are. I have come to trust Julie implicitly, she takes care of my home and even my plants as well as I do. Julie is very professional and trustworthy.

I no longer worry about my cats while I am gone. I know they are lovingly being taken care of.

When you go on vacation, it is supposed to be relaxing and worry free. Until last year, our daughter was always our horse sitter, but moved to Arizona to teach Kindergarten. While thrilled for her, we wondered what we would do if we wanted to leave town. I first saw the ad for August Animal Care in the Woodinville Weekly and then picked up Julie's brochure at DeYoungs. I called her, and felt immediately comfortable when she wanted to come over and observe and talk about our expectations. Julie arrived on time, and took notes.

We own three Saddlebreds. The youngest is a strapping, huge, almost three year old, that doesn't always know his boundaries. The next is a head shy gelding that can be nervous, and lastly, the bossy gelding who wants to be first at everything! Julie has them knowing whose in charge. She is.

Oh, did we mention that the barn is always spotless when we return? Julie also requests an email or phone call to let her know that you are home to ensure everyone is taken care of. THAT is amazing... We're finding that with Julie, we're able to get away because she's every bit as good as having a family member care for our animals.

Thanks Julie!

I met Julie awhile back when she worked at a local animal shelter. She was one of the first people I met while working there, and she matched me up with two of my favorite animals (a big fat black cat and a lovely lab). Since both my dogs had a relationship with her already, it was only natural I kept her in my phone book for pet sitting services when she moved on to start her company. I ended up needing her in a pinch last month and she was absolutely awesome! I called her a few days before I needed her and asked if she could possibly squeeze me in. She told me of course she could and she would be out the next day for the consultation. I was thrilled that even though I slacked on contacting her in time, she still made time for me and my dogs. I have had many a pet sitter in the past, but this was honestly the first time I did not worry what would happen while I was gone. When she came for the consultation (even after I gave her bad directions!), Dennis and Mona both remembered her and immediately went to give her all their love! This is always my first test - if they like people, I like people! I knew I was in good hands after that and was just thrilled that she would be looking after all of my kids. After my very long weekend of work, I sat down to email Julie to let her know I was home. I opened my mail and there they were - picture after picture of my two dorks playing around my backyard! I think I laughed for 5 full minutes - it was just what I needed! They are the BEST pictures that totally captured their personalities (and showed me they had a BALL!). It was a great feeling to know that even though I'd like to be missed when I leave them, it was great knowing Julie cared enough to love them like I do!I highly recommend Julie for any of your pet sitting needs! She rocks!

"We faced a crisis this year when we lost one of our two cats and were looking forward to traveling over the holiday break. Sabrina (Brina), our affectionate, very social, black cat, would be spending ten days on her own without any companionship. We had left her for a weekend before and returned to moans and meows of reproach quelled only by hours of together time on the sofa. Ten Days?! Brina said we definitely needed to find someone who understood a cat's special needs. Enter Julie. I was immediately put at ease by Julie's professional presentation and organization. Brina was impressed with her petting hands and soft manner. We had found our match. I appreciated Julie's personal touches and flexibility. At the last minute, we had to request a change in schedule and Julie worked with us to rearrange visits. And as you can tell, Brina not only enjoyed the affection, she now thinks she has a future in pictures. And maybe she does, we are thinking of having Julie do our holiday picture next year: with Brina in front, of course."

"We have 3 cats and 2 dogs who love to have Julie come take care of them when we go out of town. One of our dogs, Eddie, is especially happy now that she has a new friend. What makes this so special is that Eddie is a very fearful dog who doesn't make friends easily. It can often take a lot of work and many hours before she trusts a new person. She trusted Julie on her second visit to our house. This says a lot about Julie's way with animals. During our first trip away Eddie progressed to giving Julie hugs. We cannot express the ease of mind gained knowing that our kids are in such able hands. Thanks!"

A new client's letter to her homeowners association...

"If you can't find a local kid looking for work... we recently hired a fantastic dog sitter. Her name is Julie Austin. She has a company called August Animal Care. www.augustanimalcare.com We got her as a referral from a friend. We took a black lab on Christmas eve from a family member who went into full time hospital care but we needed to find a dog sitter for a few days while we went out of town over the holidays. We figured it was hopeless on Christmas Eve. But much to our surprise, Julie came over to meet the dog within a couple of hours of our phone call. She even took pictures of the dog while we were gone. Our friends report that while they were away they got daily email updates with pictures of their cat! She is incredibly caring and we would highly recommend her!"

"For the last year and a half, I have had the very good fortune to work as a volunteer at the same no-kill animal shelter that Julie Austin was employed at. After only a few weeks of volunteering it quickly became apparent to me that Julie is one of those rare individuals that has an almost magical rapport with all kinds of animals. No matter how terribly abused or scared an animal was, Julie was always able to win its friendship and trust.

However, I am not just a shelter volunteer; my family and I share our home with several very much loved and slightly spoiled animals of our own! I am extremely lucky to have finally found the ultimate pet sitter in Julie! To let you know how picky I am, the last three vacations we went on we took our animals with us rather then leave them at a boarding facility or with our house sitter! Now that Julie has started her pet sitting business my worries are over, I know I can let her take care all my pets and I don't have to worry about a thing! If you are interested in hearing additional comments about my pet/animal experiences with Julie, I am happy to tell you anything you need to know!"

"Julie is terrific! I have two dogs and three horses. Caring for the five of them makes for a pretty full schedule. Julie has been a LIFE SAVER, enabling us to leave for a few hours, a day, or even multiple days.

It's so nice to be able to trust that my animals will be well-cared for when I can't be around. I feel completely comfortable leaving her in charge, even if I have to leave unexpectedly. My animals live for the days when their Aunt Julie comes to visit."

"I have 5 dogs, a cat, 2 horses and a bunch of sheep, and what seems like a daily shipment of junk mail. Needless to say when I want to go on vacation it's a nightmare of scheduling different people at different times. Julie solved my problems. There's a lot of great things I can say about Julie, but, let it suffice to say that my 10-year-old nervous wreck of a border collie wanted to get in her car and go home with her yesterday... my border collie! I rest my case."

"Dear Julie,

I always leave my cat with a lot of trepidation. As you know, she has a respiratory condition. It's aggravated by stress and is almost always triggered when I travel. Consequently, I limit my travels to 'must' ones and spend as much time with her as possible.

Ever since you've started to watch her, these symptoms don't manifest and I come back home to find a healthy, happy cat! The daily e-mail reports with Panther's pictures you sent put me at ease and I can see that this is a labor of love for you and not 'just a job.'

I'll always be happy to refer my friends and provide references.

Hope that in the next life time I'm your cat:) - thanks!!!

What wonderful things cannot be said about Julie's services with August Animal Care? I worked with Julie at a local animal shelter for over 1 1/2 years and always saw what sincere dedication and devotion she had to all of the animals there. Little did I know that her love and dedication would come to play a huge part in my own home life as well. My boyfriend can have a hectic schedule that requires extensive traveling with his job and to say that our life schedules are a little on the crazy side would be putting it mildly. We may have to pick up and leave at a moment's notice during the busy season. I enjoy going on the road to visit but what to do about my "baby" Harley? Harley was a runt of a litter that we rescued at the previously mentioned shelter. He was very sick and was not expected to make it but after much love and care here he is almost celebrating his first birthday! Because of this issue and due to the loving animal nature of us both, we trusted no one with Harley. I will not do Kennel Care as I never want him away from HIS home just because we have to be gone. With Julie's services, those worries have been totally eliminated for us. She spends so much quality time with the animals that they always feel cared for. No matter how often a day you feel is best for your pet, Julie is there. We don't know what we would have done without her, especially in the last few months when things have been extremely chaotic for us! With August Animal Care, you can always be assured quality and professional service on all levels. We could never thank you enough Julie: you and your services have been a true blessing to us and our dear Harley.

Sincerely,

Carole Deel, Joel Bennett and Harley (Woof, Woof)
