How You Can Help

Donate | Foster | Sponsor | Volunteer
The Grey Muzzle Organization
www.greymuzzle.org
The Grey Muzzle Organization improves the lives of homeless senior dogs by making it possible for shelters, rescue groups, and sanctuaries to do more for old dogs.
We are not a shelter or rescue group. Rather, Grey Muzzle funds programs such as hospice care, senior dog adoption, medical screening, and other special programs to help old dogs at animal welfare organizations nationwide. Distributed through grants, all funds are provided through our fundraising efforts and the generosity of public donations.
Many dogs are abandoned in their senior years because their caretakers don't want to take responsibility for the extra care required as part of the natural aging process. In other cases, a well-loved senior dog may become homeless when their senior person enters assisted living, and there is no place else to go. Some old dogs are rescued from a lifetime of abusive or neglectful situations with, finally, a chance enjoy life in their last few years.
Through The Grey Muzzle Organization, you can help create happy endings for dogs in these circumstances.
Reading with Rover
www.readingwithrover.org
There is an exciting program here in the Northwest that involves kids, dogs and literacy. In the "Rover" program, children with reading difficulties actually read stories to a dog and the dog loves to listen! A child that may be hesitant to read aloud to his peers is typically less stressed when reading to a dog and the dog never judges the child's reading ability.

Old Dog Town by Michael Mountain
shopping.bestfriends.org/
Victorville, Nellie's Nest, Primo's Pack, Sergeant's Troop, Chesapeake Bay, Kiyana's Wolf Den: these are all neighborhoods of Old Dog Town, part of the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. From Amra the Malamute sheriff to Jethro the shaggy-dog mayor, the inhabitants of Old Dog Town are as varied and fascinating as a cast of characters in a movie. There's Victor the Dogfather who has drawn an indelible line in the sand that no other dog challenges. And Ginger the Chesapeake Bay retriever who has a passion for counting tennis balls. These stories and more welcome you to Old Dog Town, where every day is a dog day filled with sunny skies and golden biscuits. Proceeds from this book will help the work of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.

www.berkeleybreathed.com/pages/FlawedDogs.asp
Flawed Dogs is the annual catalog of the country's most shockingly un-adoptable dogs, collected regularly at the Piddleton "Last Chance" Dog Pound in Piddleton, Vermont. With the Piddleton Poetry Club providing color commentary on each of the madly imperfect pooches, Berkeley Breathed is at the top of his twisted form with his scandalous depictions of these desperate dogs and their original, dissatisfied owners. Here's an invaluable guide for anyone seeking soulful, if not comely, canine companionship.
